Charlie's Point of View

We get to Bella’s door and I take the key from her, wanting to enter the apartment before her just in case.

“Dad, you’re being silly,” Bella giggles but surrenders her keys to me.

“Rather safe than sorry, Bells. I’m not taking any chances,” I say seriously but smile at her not wanting to freak her out any more than I have to.

I turn the key, open the door and step inside scanning the room before letting Bella in and closing the door behind her. I walk to each of her rooms ensuring that no one is hiding in there before returning to Bella.

“The coast seems to be clear, ma’am,” I say trying to sound as military as I can.

“Thanks Dad. Well.... uhm... Do you think you could give me some time to shower and get dressed?”

“Sure thing, Bells.” I reply, noticing her look uncomfortable. Some conversations I suppose are just hard to have with one’s father. “I’ll go get us some coffee and donuts from somewhere around the corner.”

“Okay Dad,” Bella says smiling up at me. “You really didn’t have to do this. Edwa-”

“I wanted to,” I cut her off before she says anything to me about him. I don’t want to know what Edward could have, would have, should have done. “I’ll be back in about ten minutes, okay?”

“Okay, dad. See you soon.”

I give her a last kiss on her cheek and turn to walk out her apartment in search of coffee and breakfast, I’m starving.
